Pathfinder Title: 5th Grade Writing Tools

Introduction: The topic for my pathfinder is 5th grade writing tools. It is created for teachers preparing students for the Oklahoma Core Curriculum Writing Test. The purpose of the pathfinder is to provide a list of resources for teachers to supplement their writing instruction. The 5th grade writing test is the first standardized measure of an elementary student's writing ability. Teachers should have a variety of instructional methods from which to draw. As an administrator I will do my best to provide critical resources to teachers.

Key Terms: Fifth grade, writing, instruction, methods, expository, persuasive, descriptive, prompts.

Search Strategy: I began my search with Google. The searches using Google provided a variety of sources using single word searches. I then tried using the Boolean operator AND between topics. This narrowed the search dramatically. I also used the ERIC search engine because my topic was educational in nature. The Boolean search provided much more specific information.
